My Grandfather Could Live On The KFC Coleslaw Recipe
Perhaps you have come upon the post , I gather you are searching for the famed kfc cole slaw recipe and possibly other secret restaurant recipes . More on that in a while . But first , I want to part with you my saga of searching for it.
I’m not a huge cole slaw fan , but my grandfather. Wow. Is that another story!
I take he must practically live on “The Colonel’s” coleslaw , he thinks it is the “best ever”. So obviously his granchildren wanted to impress him (me and my husband love to cook) so we set out on a mission to re-create the KFC magic in our residence .
After surfing the internet looking for the restaurant copycat recipe , we were very confused. We all found several different recipes, and had no idea which one was correct ! They all claimed to be the correct one but somehow I knew my he would have a more incisive taste.
So I picked the two that looked to be the best , and made both of them. I tasted the 2 of them , but like I did say , I’m not a huge fan and really didn’t know if they really compared to Kentuckey Fried Chicken , although they really did taste rather otherwise against each other .
When he grabbed his 1st. bite , we all held our breath, ready and waiting(p) for him to say “wow, you got KFC cole slaw” and then for us to respond with “No! We did it ourselves!” but nope , grandfather put the utensil down and just said “this slaw is dreadful”!
Oops!
About a week after the embarrassing incident , I was talking with a coworker about what happened and she told me about a resource I had never heard of before. Apparently there was a “secret” club of sorts that traded restaurant copycat recipes back and forth. I checked it out and sure enough , there was the famous KFC cole slaw recipe.
So we fired up the kitchen and called grandpa over, and guess what…he loved it! He said was just like the KFC cole slaw recipe from the restaurant . The best part of the episode is that I found an endless supply of the best recipes, and can now cook like the pros from our own house . How cool is that?
